I have just patched my X2 and now AVCHD editing is POSSIBLE.
There is no freezing or jerkiness during playing the clips.
I have no experience with transition problems (mentioned by dalemccl), because I ran away from X2 to Cyberlin application a months ago (I had no patience to wait for patch so long
).
Anyway, as for editing I can see big improvement.
cheers

I patched the X2 as well. Editing is much easier, that's true, but... the glitches are still there. I double checked it on ps3 - frame by frame and the first frame after the transition is actually the one before so it is something like 123434). I could clearly see a hand moving back one frame (checked it with 4 different clips with the same result).
Now, I'm kind of lost, 'cos most of you report that the glitches have disappeared. Must admit that they are smaller, but detectable.

I have seen something similar in Cyberlink PD7 trial, smart-rendering HDV clips (not even AVCHD)... it does the same back-up hiccup before transitions. My unpatched VS X2 does not do this, although it's much slower smart-rendering from M2T than PD7 was. Time or quality, pick one, sigh... obviously have to pick quality, so I'm sticking w/ VS X2. I'll try to download the patch and see if it improves anything but doubtful.
Just wanted to share that this may be some generic long-GOP difficulty, and not just w/ AVCHD nor VS alone..

Hi again
I've just recorded an AVCHD file, properties same as the first clip, without smart-render and the result is exactly the same as in the case of AVCHD disk but with smart-render
The are small but detectable glitches - one frame after the transition moves back.
The footage was filmed in 1980x1080, 60i, it is an NTSC camera and both the file and the disc were recorded in NTSC.

As I reported earlier in the thread, I get the exact same "jump-back-one-frame" transition glitch with my Sony SR-11's 1920x1080 60i NTSC AVCHD clips. (I am using fade-to-black transitions.) I also get a similar looking glitch when placing titles over video clips, although I haven't checked it frame-by-frame yet to see if it is jumping back one frame like it does with transitions.Przemek wrote:Hi again

So that is a Sony and a Canon both with the same problem, even after the patch. And Ken said he saw a transition glitch with a Panasonic, although it looked like a brief freeze instead of a one frame jump-back. It seems that Corel has more work to do.

hi,pwholzel wrote:Bankroot and Michael, are you still seeing the glitches even on simple cuts? Or has the patch fixed those, and are you only seeing the glitches when transitions are introduced between cuts. I will install tonight and try it out with my HF100.
I can see the glitches only if I use some transitions. Simple cuts are OK.

I did a quick test of the VSX2 patch on HF100 60i footage, and it appears that the blips between simple cuts (with no transitions) are no longer appearing.
I want to do a more intense test when I have time. Has anyone else been able to verify this? Although it's a shame that transitions have blips, at least it appears that simple cuts will be okay, which would be a major improvement.
