Now we can access the patch through update and patches link; Home >Support and Patches > Patches and Updates. Good, at least our posts got noticed LOL. :)

Corel does seem to be dis-ing the Ulead site. I also stumbled upon the VS2 patch as well as the PI X3 RAW patch/update on Corel's site but could not find them on Ulead's site.

This is not good customer service. It they are phasing out the Ulead site (as I suspect they are), they should be pointing/redirecting folks to the Corel download site.

But what that means in practice is anyone's guess...
96 = ultimate could mean it comes bundled with WIN DVD 9 :?:

Patch and Howdy

Post by USAPatriot »

Howdy...I'm USAPatriot, AKA USA, AKA Pat, AKA Rod. Most people go with Pat. :)

I sure am glad I found this forum...and this thread. I visited here the day after I bought X2, picked up the patch and installed it. For whatever reason when you click on Upgrades in the X2 menu system instead of going to a useful spot, like where patches might be, it simply takes the user to an ad for a bigger, better version...more costly too. I'm glad you guys are here ;)

Patch for VS X2 Pro

Post by ffej_b »

I see 2 patches on the Corel website for VS 12. I am assuming I only need to install SP1. I'm running VS 12 on Win XP. Looks like SP2 is for Win 7 fixes. Is this the correct assumption? Thanks

I am running S 12 on Win 7

Does the newer patch (SP2) contain all th changes and revisions contained and listed in SP1 in addition to making VS12 win 7 compatible?

I am asking this as th file sizes are quite quite diferent - wih SP2 being almost half that of SP1

I believe that i have to uninstall SP 1 in order to install SP2 - is this right?

What will be the version change number displayed after SP2 is installed? (different from SP1)

You install SP1 and then you install SP2.

And just to be clear, SP2 -- if you read the small print -- is for those using Windows 7, no one else. It does NOT contain SP1. So you do not uninstall the latter...

Hello,
I have a lot of problem using VideoStudio X2 pro with Windows7 and I wanted to install the SP1 and SP2 but, even if I have installed VideoStudio X2 on my PC, I get the message (with both Sp1 and SP2)that the installer cannot find a copy of VideoStudio 12 ...!?

Thanks for your suggestions

I have VS X3 but because of the additional templates I'm still using VS X2 for some final authoring (not sure if there is a workaround to get the templates into X3). My issue is the Window 7 patch for X2 is for the 32 bit version. Is there a 64 bit version?

George

EDIT: Just tried X2 and when I try to Create Disc it crashes presumably because I don't have the correct Windows 7 patch?

There is no 64 bit version of Video Studio, so the patch should work even on a 64 bit system.

Thanks for the quick reply Ken.

I get this error when I try to install the patch.

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher."

X3 crashes too so maybe I have some other issues to deal with.

I rebooted and X3 was fine however I still cannot load the X2 patch. (I'm still using X2 because the templates I used on a project are no longer available in X3  )

The X2 crash occurs when I try to load [Share] > [Create Disc]

Ken advises the Win 7 patch is suitable for both 32 and 64 bit systems so does anyone have any clues as to why I get the error message when I try to install the Win 7 patch and the message advises -

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher."

Thanks for any help.
