Yes, I wonder the same thing! And particularly not good on their part if in fact it does clear up some of the more common problems -- as I have already found it partly does with in relation to editing AVCHD from some cameras... :cry: A lot of people, though not everyone, would not have been getting so upset as they have been in the two months since this update was apparently posted.

In fact it can be tracked from the general updates page on the Corel.com site but not on their Video Studio update page as such, nor on the Ulead.com site. It is rather hidden, which explains why it probably has not been found sooner.

If it really is that old - any way of telling if your installed version already has it ?

Unless someone else who uses your computer has downloaded and installed it then you don't have it. If you click the ? at the top right corner of VideoStudio and select "About VideoStudio" you should see that before the patch is installed you version number is
12.0.96.0
After installation it will read
12.0.96.1

Many thanks - just didn't know if later masters of the s/w might have had it already patched.

That doesn't seem to have been Ulead/Corel practice with patches for their products.

Scary Language in Patch User Agreement

Post by orpioneer »

Good grief, these user agreements get longer and longer,and crazier and crazier. Did anyone besides me scroll through the enormous number of pages in the user agreement that came with this patch? I mean, this is a PATCH, for heavens sake. And buried towards the bottom was language suggesting that they can monitor and alter the functionality of my computer at any time. Big brother indeed. javascript:emoticon(':evil:')

Yes it is.. The .1 indicates the patch has been installed. The mystery is the differing 96 and 98..

96 = Ultimate

98 = Pro

But what that means in practice is anyone's guess...

After downloading the exe, and running it, is it then safe to delete the downloaded exe file ?

. . . and is that the same for the bonus exe's ? . . . not that I've noticed that has given me any bonus :-/

Yes it is safe to delete them. However what I do is save them, on my external hard drive, DVD or CD. That way if/when I need to reinstall I don't have to download them again...;)
