Hi:

I just made a video and used some overlays (pictures). When I play it in the Video 11 program it looks good, when I render a video the pictures are moving around on the screen as much as 1/4 inch? Why is this happening? You can see the pictures have moved during the rendering process.

Thanks,

mauiwh

OK:

Here is a link to the video in question:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm1CsoIwOy8

the probem is this, on the tv monitors in this video the pictures do not fill the tv monitor screens. They do when I watch the video during the edit process, but when I render the video, the pictures shrink and or move out of position.

It's possible your project properties don't match your Video properties

Further to Clevo's comment, it could be, for example, that in some part of the editing, you did not have it set to 16:9. That could possibly account for it looking OK in preview in VS, but the overlays shifting in the final video...

Thanks

To check your Project Properties go to the File menu and select Project Properties, or simply press [ALT] + [Enter] on your keyboard. Now check to see that it is set to 16:9 and not 4:3.

To check in the burn module (share>create disc), you press the gear looking icon in the lower left to open the Project Settings. Those also should reflect 16:9 aspect ratio.

To change the aspect ratio:
In the editor after opening the Project Properties, press the Edit button. Then go to the General tab, and you should find the Display Aspect Ratio menu option.

In the burn module, after opening the Project Settings, you should see the Display aspect ratio without clicking anything further..

OK One Last Thought

OK:

In project properties it is listed as in 16:9 aspect ratio. I cannot find the gear icon for the burn module, I looked everywhere?

When the burn module first opens, look at the bottom left for some icons. I think it is the second from the left. Click on it. If you're not sure, hover your mouse over each one and it will tell you...;)

Ok now instead of opening up the Project Settings in the burn module to change the aspect ratio, just do this. Same place, bottom left, there are 3 icons from left to right: Settings and Options (Preferences and Disc Template manger), Project Settings (looks like a gear), then Change Display Aspect Ratio, which has either 4:3 or 16:9 showing. Click on this one with the numbers to change the aspect ratio, if it is not reading 16:9.

If you're not getting the "tool tip" when you hover your mouse over icons, then click on them, any of them.

Just a side note for anyone that is not familiar with the GUI, I highly recommend, going completely through the program, front to back, top to bottom, no project in mind, just to learn. Click on everything you can to learn where it goes, what it does, and moreover where it is. I and probably everyone here started out with little if any knowledge of these programs. I asked questions, and then decided to explore on my own. I think I learned more faster by exploring. If something requires having a video clip in the timeline, hey that's partly the reason why they include samples.

However from version to version things change, and I've discovered from posts on this forum, some things I had no idea were there. I do when I get a new version start clicking widely on things to find any new, and to see what may break...;)
