missing Thumbnails, DVD WS2 crashing, no imorting

Post by me1of6 »

Hi......
I Have a Huge problem, my DVD WS2 starts, but when it is compled loading, I have no thumbnails in video, image, buttons, text, etc. I try to import video, image, etc, via the open folder icon. No box opens up. I can open projects, the video clips show on the bottom strip, but still no thumbnails. When I do try to move stuff on the bottom strip, the program crashes and I get the "Do you want to send a reoprt to..."
I run Windows XP, have a gig processor, and plenty of drive space.

Uninstall, then install again. You may want to try installing it in a different folder, as well.

I figured it out... I tried a repair and didn't work, so I had to completely uninstall DW2**, I started in Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs... then physicall went in and deleted any remaining folders.... I also did a search for DV2 after the first two steps. Restart the computer. I reinstalled and everything works fine.

**Make sure if you have a service pack installed (DW2 Service Pack), you will need to delete that first before uninstalling the program, if you don't the computer won't recognize the reinstall
Hope this helps anyone else out there that may come across this issue

Crash Hell

Now why is it that DVDWS installations become so easily corrupted. I too suffer from constant crashes. It is almost impossible to finish a project

There is something seriously wrong with this software. There should be internal error checking, not crashes.

Thanks for your suggestion to unistalld the service pack first. I'll give it a try, but frankly, any software that makes you go through such permutations is truly awful.

Similar sort of problem here... except just with AUDIO...

I've tried installing DVDWS2 onto my new PC (Win XP Pro, SP2) after more than a year of totally reliable service on my old PC.

After installing there are no AUDIO thumbnails in the library (Video and Images ARE there, however).

I tried to import an MPA audio file (exactly the same type of file I always used in DVDWS2 projects successfully on my old PC) and got an error message: "file xyz does not contain audio data - cannot import". However the file plays happily in Windows Media Player.

Next I tried importing an audio clip from the supplied Ulead library and got the exact same error message.

In other words DVDWS2 just doesn't want to allow ANY audio content into it.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the whole program with no change. The supplied VIDEO and IMAGE thumbnails show up in the library and are fully usable but there are NO AUDIO thumbnails and I cannot import audio either.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.
