VS 11.5 opens DVD MovieFactory 6 for burning Blu-Ray disc

Post by alexba »

Why does a non-working MovieFactory screen open when I am ready to burn a Blu-Ray disc?

VS11.5 can get "corrupted" when I try to use the Create Disc, Blu-Ray option. The problem only appears sporadically and is unpredictable. This is strange because I can edit, do test Blu-ray burns on BD-RE discs repeatedly and then for no known reason the problem occurs. If I choose any of the other disc options, the DVD Movie Factory screen does not appear. Also, it does not matter if the file is SD, HD, AVI or MPG.

I never use or have installed MovieFactory to my knowledge. Add/Remove programs in Control Panel does not list MovieFactory and a search does not find the program components.

The only solution I know is to uninstall and reinstall VS. I assume one or more of the Ulead *.ini or *.dat type files gets busted and causes the problem but I don't know which ones to restore from a backup.

I have Win HP HE with all Critical Updates except SP3 and VS has all its service packs.

When I select the Blu-ray option from Create Disc, a non-functioning MovieFactory screen opens.

At this point, nothing works. I can only click the Close button and I am returned to VS.

Please note that the image in editing window is a MPG hi-def file
that was cropped on the sides with the video filter effect.

This is very strange, since you have never installed DVDMF6. I don't have any Hi-Def video, but do have both VS11.5+ and DVDMF6+ installed. By placing an MPEG-2 (SD) video in the timeline, and selecting Blu-Ray in the Share>Create Disc, VS opens the burn module with the correct properties for burning a Blu-Ray disc.

Did you purchase your copy of VS from Corel, a retail store, or some other on-line vendor? You may have been sold a bad (tampered with) product...

If I remember correctly, my Canon HV20 high def camera came with MF6 on the camera installation disk. I chose not to install it as I already owned MF6+ and MF7. But it could have got there that way on your own computer... :?:
