Image Map Help Please

Post by johnjlevy@yahoo.com »

This is probably really simple but I am trying to create an image map and I can't seem to figure out how to save it in PI10 so that it will be created correctly, be able to be placed in a web page and viewed with all of the mouse over effects and links in place. Anybody know why these instructions are not included in the PI10 help system? HELP!!

Hi,

Make the image map with one of the tools.Image

1. is where the tool is located, 2 is the shape of the tool. 3 is a finished map.
You might want to 4. "Pick" the handles to shape the map.

5. is the tool settings for directing the link.

File, Save for Web, Entire Image, will save xxx.html (the encoded conetent you can cut and paste into your web editor) and a folder called images You can place that folder in your web content. If you already have that folder (in lower case), just copy the images to that folder.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply but the half of your answer that I needed is wrong.

I already knew about the image map tool and how to use it to create an image map area in an image. What I was looking for was the way to save the file and make it work in IE or other brower.

The second half of your answer says to save the file as "entire image". That is the wrong answer but it at least got me looking in the right area.

What you need to do under the "save for web" menu is to save "as html". That is the only way it seems to create the entire html code as well as the image slices necessary to build the image.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction but a minor thumbs down for posting a reply with a wrong direction.

Hi,

Yes. I was trying to help you too much and confused the buttons.

It won't happen again.
