Question about making a football Highlight clip

I have a friend that wants me to make a football hightlight video for his son. I know how to do most everything but a couple of things I don't.

Number 1, I want to either put a circle around his son or an arrow pointing to his son in the clip.

Number 2, I want to freeze the video for a second or two while the cirlce or arrow appears and points to his son.

Any ideas on the best way to accomplish this?

#1 - Start a new project and choose a font that has an "O" that is perfectly round. Make it nice and big and bold. I also make mine red. I also change the background color to a bright green, for the chroma-key. When you have it like you want it go to Clip>Save as Image. This will save an image to your Image Library. Now on the highlight video you will put this image clip on the overlay track. With the image selected click on the Edit tab and turn on the chroma-key function, keying out the green. You are now left with the red "O" over top of you video. You can resize and move as you need.

#2 - You can't freeze the video, but you can make an image of the frame that you want frozen, as described above.

Yes, that will show you how to do it. But as I've stated before, in this instance I don't think you need to have it track the player, but that will be your decision. I think once the player is highlighted the viewers eyes will naturally follow the player, even after the circle disappears.
