moving files to another computer
I am still trying to meet a deadline for prom entertainment which is Friday. I gave up on trying to burn from my computer because of the "Covert Steps got Problems error 4101. Using VS9. How can I get my project over to another computer which also has VS9 and CAN burn to DVD? I've tried saving a VSP on a disk but then realized I couldn't do this because the video clips weren't attached. How is the easiest way to do this. I think I'm just so tired my brains not functioning that plus I've only has this software for 3 weeks. Please help me solve this problem. I'd hate to tell the kids that their entertainment won't be happening.
Sandy, take a deep breath and let it out slowly
No way, you're not gonna disappoint the kids.
I'm guessing that you have already rendered the captured .avi files to a single MPEG. If you have a burn program like InstantCD/DVD or Easy CD/DVD Creator you can format a DVD to act like a drive where you can drag and drop files to it. Format the disc this way, pop it in the burner, open Explore and drop & drag the MPEG. If you have room you can add the VSP file. Just remember after you add the files you need to finalize the disc, otherwise it won't be read on another PC. If you don't have the room save the VSP to another disc. Then just copy over to the other computer.
If you haven't created an MPEG file yet and the video footage are all .avi files, you could do the same thing but it will take a few DVDs instead of one. You can do the same thing with an 700/800 mb CD with the .avi files except you will need a real lot of discs.
Good luck,

Yes, you can copy the .VSP file and any assets that you are using to another computer and burn from there. You may be asked to relink the files, at that point just browse to the new storage location, and UVS will update the project file accordingly. If frequently move files between my desktop and laptop to let the laptop perform length rendering operations.
