MF6+ DVD Menu Controls Not Working With Background Video

Post by Helimvee »

I have created a DVD with a background video on the main menu. When I insert the DVD into the DVD player the menu appears and the "play all" button is hi-lighted. During the first "loop" of the background video I can move the selector from the play all button to the three sub menu buttons. Each of these buttons works properly and when selected the video runs perfectly.

However, if I let the background video run through the first loop, once the second loop of the background video starts to play the play all button is no longer hi-lighted and I cannot select any of the buttons. I then have to eject the disc and and start all over - with the same thing happening again.

I created a second DVD doing everything exactly the same but leaving out the background video. This DVD works perfectly.

This leads me to believe that I have a setting wrong someplace.

Any suggestions?

The original video was shot on a Sony HC-3. I captured it to my HD and then converted it using VS X2 Pro.

Possibly it was a corrupted disc.
Try burning to a hard drive folder and then play back with a software DVD player such as WinDVD, PowerDVD, Nero Showtime etc.

Dont rely on the preview mode, please try burning to a hard drive folder and check the result. If it works then please check this link

Well, I burned the folders and they worked fine. A disc burned from those folders had the same problem as described above. The DVD player is a Sony upscaling DVP-NS70H.

I tried the same disc in a PS3 and it worked fine.

It seems that the DVD can't handle that disc.

Ten years using ULead products and this was the first problem that I had. Nice to know that it wasn't a problem with the software.

Thanks for your input sjj1805

DVD Menu highlight problem

Post by JoReneA »

I am having a similar problem with DVD 6+ and it isn't confined to menus with background videos. I have burned a number of disks that play fine in preview mode and also when burned to a hard drive folder The disks also play ok on the computer, but when I play it in either of my DVD players, the menu items are not hightlighted at all, not even the first time. I used version 4 for several years prior to this and never had that problem. All version 4 disks play on the same DVD players with the hgihlighting showing up. I am not sure if it is related to newer templates, so am going to try to use the version 4 templates with version 6. Does anyone know how to do this (where to put the template files)?

Thanks, and if anyone has a solution to the highlighting problem, please post.

DVD Menu highlight problem

Post by JoReneA »

The problem was solved with Update 2. I hadn't been able to install the update at first due to a problem that developed after it was installed. Once I solved that problem and was able to install the update, the menu highlights appeared correctly on my regular DVD players. The program also was able to create a DVD much faster with the update.
