VideoStudio 8: Unable to find burner

Post by Pedro »

I have the full version of VS 8 & it works fine, except I cannot burn to disc as it says "(No burner found)" under Create Disc/disc burner. I can make disc image files.

I also have Pinnacle Studio 9 & that creates DVD's with no problem.

I cannot find any setting that I have to make to show the path to my DVD burner. Can anyone help? Does VS8 include the software for burning?

Prorgams like Roxio (and maybe Nero) can cause problems.

Yes.

On my system, Roxio caused a conflict. (Roxio runs full-time in the background.) I don't remember if "No burner found" was the symptom. I fixed it by re-formatting the hard drive :( & starting over without Roxio. It was a new system, so starting-over wasn't too bad.

Or, you could try using Video Studio to create the DVD folders, or a DVD image on your hard drive first. Then, use your regular burning software to copy the folders/image to a DVD-R.

With Roxio, it's the Drag-To-Disk utility that causes problems. As long as you close it before you insert the blank media (right-click on the DTD icon in the System Tray, select Exit), UVS should work fine without having to uninstall anything.

If that doesn't do the trick, you may want to install the Burning Engine Update that's on the Ulead support website.

Nero's InCD also causes a conflict -- at least it did on my system. Unfortunately, you can't right click on it and exit as it seems to have no controls on it. It just sits in the system tray and it's where you are supposed to drag and drop your files for burning. But once I had totally uninstalled Nero, and then did a reinstall of it but without InCD, my burning problem went away.
