The wrong launcher

Post by Wim Kok »

I switched from MF5 to MF6 because of the ¡§Edit Room¡¨ option in MF6. The launcher of MF6 however is not as complete as in MF5 and not in accordance with the MF6 manual. The missing options are ¡§Burn from disc image¡¨, ¡§Burn DVD folders to disc¡¨ and ¡§Copy Disc¡¨.
I solved my problems in using ¡§Quick Drop¡¨ where the option ¡§Copy Disc¡¨ leads to a burn-screen ¡§Ulead Burn. Now¡¨ which is not the default burnscreen. In this screen I can select the disc to be copied or the image file to be burned, but it is not a normal MovieFactory procedure.
Has anyone experience with this phenomenon?

Hello SJJ, it was not the plus version but a ¡§minus¡¨ version obviously. The buttons on the left side in my launcher, which is called ¡§Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6¡¨, are arranged as specified beneath:

Video/Slideshow Disc
Import/Capture
Edit/Append Disc
Disc Tools
But the buttons on the right side are exactly as you showed in your ¡§Plus¡¨ version.

Sofar I did¡¦nt meet any MF user who has this version. I purchased from the German Ulead-representative ProDad and the key is xxxxxxxxxxx (Removed by SJJ1805). The manual with this version also indicates that the launcher should be as in MF5. I rembember that the installation did not develop in the normal way. I had to remove MF5 completely before MF6 was accepted and ProDad had no explanation for that. Other MF users can have both installed on their machine. I seem to have a ¡§Monday¡¨ version.

I don't understand how you purchased DVDMF 6 from ProDad. As far as I can determine ProDad sells plug-in effects and filters for the various NLEs.

The ProDad activity you describe is the actual situation after they lost Ulead, www. ulead.de was ProDad.

So in Germany, ProDad was a vendor for Ulead products, and it would appear that they no longer honor or acknowledge them. If that's the case and Corel does not wish to, I would guess you're out of luck. It would be like purchasing a Corel product from a retail store like BestBuy here in the U.S., Corel would not replace a bad disc because you didn't buy it directly from them, blaming it on the Retailer. So you would need to seek a replacement from BestBuy. However if BestBuy goes out of business, then we're stuck with a bad disc and experience..;)

Ron, I found the solutions I need in "Quickdrop", so I'm not claiming. May be my copy could become "a collectors item" in the future showing the next generation that ULEAD had a solution for every problem!

To have DMF5 and DMF6 both installed on the same machine at the same time you have to fool the computer.

1. Install DMF5 plus any update packs.
2. Temporarily Rename the Installation folder
(I am not at home right now but it is something like
c:\program files\Ulead\Movie Factory 5
It will be easy enough to find) - I usually simply put an X onto the end of the folder name e.g. c:\program files\Ulead\Movie Factory 5X
3. Install DMF6.
4. Revert the DMF5 folder back to it's original name

Thanks Steve, your hint is useful for those in the Netherlands who have the same (lame) version of DMF6 as I have. Therefore we will place your suggestion on our site http://ulead.come2me.nl/
