Hi,

I recently installed VS12 and for when importing certain avi files into the library I receive this error message and VS crashes:

VStudio.dat - Application error

'0x132a97a8' referenced memory at '0x132d3f40'. The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program

I am running Windows XP SP2 on a P4 with 2 gb ram. I have 5GB free space on my HD.

I was also getting an error about a KMP-duplicate library message which doesn't appear now.

I read a few posts about renaming the packaged divx dll and am wondering if this is the solution for the error.

Also, do I need to update DirectX?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

W.

"...certain avi files..." means that it could be any one of over a hundred different file types. AVI is a wrapper or container format, that houses file types such as RAW uncompressed "avi", DV, DivX, Xvid, MPEG-4, and even WMV.

Now assuming that you're trying to import DivX which is a distribution format, not intended for editing, and is highly compressed, you may have enough space on your HDD. 5 Gigs is very little when editing video. It is very common for most to have 500 gig to a couple of terabytes.

So could you clarify these? The specific type of video file, where it came from, how you're getting into your PC, and if you do in fact only have 5 free gig of space..

Have you updated DirectX recently? If not, then yes you should do so. It basically helps fix things that seem to get broke by Windows updates and others.

The DivX fix is so that VS Pro will use the more current DivX codec in lieu of the older version provided with VS. So if you do have DivX installed on your system, you will need to follow those directions so that VS will be able to use it..

The file is a Xvid (v 1.1.2)avi
64.9MB

It's a movie file downloaded via utorrent.

Audio portion is mpeg-1 layer 3 48hz

I have 5 gigs freespace. I will update DirectX to see if that helps.

Xvid is the free version of DivX, however uses it's own codec. You can download it from here: http://www.xvid.org/
