VS11 Crashes On Import

I am using Ulead VideoStudio 11.5.0157.1 Plus on Windows Vista 64-bit on with Quad Core 2.6Ghz and 4GB.

I imported some videos from my sony hdr-sr12 about 2 months ago and everything worked fine.

I recorded some new footage over the holidays and when I go to import. Vista says that VS11 has stopped working and then it prompts me to close the program. After the program closes, windows says that data execution prevention is the problem. I changed it to turn off for an individual program and selected vstudio11.exe and after reboot, I am still having the same problem.

I moved the data on the video camera to my hard drive and the same thing happens.

Any help would be appreciated!

You're missing an update the correct version should be 11.5.0157.2

Thank you for making sure my version is updated. I have updated the version of VideoStudio, and I'm now running 11.5.0157.2 Plus.

I attempted to import, and VideoStudio crashed again.

What should I do now?

When you say import..how exactly are you importing... are you transferring from your camera's harddrive to a file in your PC or striaght from your Camcorder?

Please explain the steps you are using

Any error messages appear or is it just freezing or simply closing itself down?

You also say it worked a few months ago and now it doesn't...

Something must have changed in your PC over the last couple of months...new software...those codec packs...system changes...updates....could be anything...

I have done both for the import:

1. Import>Load the USB drive and import directly from camera (normal way)
2. Open my computer, go into the hard drive of the camera, copy the files to my local hard drive, then click Import>Load the local hard drive.

Both ways, VS11 starts to "Parse" and at 0%, a windows vista message pops up and says "The Program Has Stopped Working", then another message pops up where it says Microsoft is searching to fix it and then it finishes searching and the only thing you can do is click "Close" and then VS11 goes away.

I agree that something must have changed. I have not done much to change the environment. I installed WinSSh and some drivers/software for a samsung monitor.

I will try uninstalling a few things and will review sjj1805's Troubleshooting page.

I just updated my graphics drivers and now I can't capture using VS X2 - the preview window is completely distorted. Can still capture fine with v10+, and resulting captured clips play/preview fine in X2.

Try this.... transfer files from your camera hard drive to your PC hard drive... open VS...from Library Manager just open the video file in your hard drive in the Library...then drag file to timeline like normal....would it work that way?

That definitely worked and is actually a lot easier! Thanks for the help!

Think i should be concerned about fixing it or just deal with it?

For Hard drive based camcorders just treat the Video in the camcorder like it's stored on an external hard drive/local drive. I don;t think they are meant to be "imported" as such like with a tape based camcorder
