Slideshow-My New Truck

Post by Ron P. »

In November I was able to trade my old '96 Chev S-10 in for a newer truck. The old S-10 was starting to have some issues, and I couldn't rely on it, traveling the 100+ miles to and from work. So I located and was able to buy a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT.

It is fully loaded. According to the salesman, it has every little bell and whistle GM put on this model of truck in 2004. Leather, heated, 2-driver memory seats, heated electric mirrors, that even fold in for tight spots, and is part of the Memory Driver settings. I mean this thing has more extras then you can shake a stick at. This is the first real nice vehicle I've owned...

Well on Dec. 12th as I was coming home, just about 15 miles from home, a pair of deer ran onto the road. I seen the first, and avoided it. However the second ran into the right door. There was oncoming traffic, and it was of course at night, but I couldn't maneuver to avoid it. Luckily it was a small "bambi". None the less it still done over $1200 damage. I take the truck in tomorrow to get it repaired.

With that said, some of the programs used were of course VS Pro, and PhotoImpact. With PI I used my Wacom Intuos to extract my truck in one of the photos. A green background for chroma-key was added, and it is used in the opening and closing. I spent about 2 hours just extracting it, trying to prevent from having any "jaggies".

Also in one of my earlier versions, I used Steve's License Plate Blur to blur out my tag, however later went back and just changed the pan/zoom so it was not needed. The background is from Digital Juice "Jump Backs", and a 3-D title was made with BluffTitler. The music is from SmartSound SonicFire Pro 5. I think that covers everything...

This is just an example to show that most of us use a variety of tools while editing and producing videos and DVDs.

Nice truck
Hope that the insurance company sorts out the dent.

Nice video, particularly liked the green overlay.

Thank you...

Yes it is a very nice truck. I think that the bambis (deer) target the nice vehicles on the road. They really make an effort to get those that are new..

My insurance company done a spectacular job on this. I had a check in my hand for their share of the damages, a week before the truck was scheduled to go in for repairs.

The bodyshop stated that it should be done today, I hope their right, as I may get to go back to work on Monday- 1/5/09.

Like I stated in my initial post above, this was done not to really show off my new truck, (however, yes I'm real proud, and consider myself lucky to have it), but as an example of one program is not the end all of producing videos. While VS does a good job at what it does, other programs need to be used to be able to go to the next levels...;)

One of my goals is to produce a video that incorporates every tool I have in my arsenal.

Yep fuel economy with a full size 4-wheel drive, is somewhat of a misnomer. However the truck I traded in, a '96 Chevy S-10, with a 4-cylinder, 5-spd manual transmission, did not get much better. I've talked to several guys that owns full sized trucks, and find that the small trucks only give you less horsepower, and less room. Which was the case with my old S-10.

I don't think I'll take this 4-wheeling. It's too nice a truck, was a single-owner, and well taken care of. I'm not one that can afford to see if it can be destroyed..;) My little brother on the other hand would have found a big mud-hole to try it out, before buying it.
