I causes smoke to roll out of your speakers, your monitor will melt into a puddle on the floor, and 10k volts of electricity will be sent through your keyboard.....
UPD = Ulead Private Document, which just stores information about a project. If you delete it and still want to work on that project, you may have to recreate most of it, such as the effects and filters applied to clips, where they were applied, where those clips are located on your system and so on.
It's ok to delete them once you are completely finished with your project...

Hi
I delete UDP files just to clean up my folders.
It has had no adverse effect to the working of my projects.
But I do believe they may be related to ¡¥Smart Render¡¦
Only when I Share Create Video File are UPD files generated.
The files are so small that there not worth bothering about,
but if you are unsure leave them to the end of your editing to remove with the rest.
And I find them in the save location along with the rendered files.
