How to set User Defined Frame Size in Video Save Options?

The User Defined Frame size option under Video Save Options (when making a custom format video) - always seems greyed out.

Does anyone know how to active this so I can specify the exact dimensions of the output video file rather than having just the limited selection from the Frame Size/Standard drop down list?

It may be obvious but I can't figure it out (applies to VS8 & VS 9)!

This option only seems to work with Avi files

And Real Media .rm, and Quick Time . mov

Frame options are only available when the CODEC/format allow it.
