Alludo USER to USER Web Board

Guys I think I'm having a similar problem as manicx. Ive had UVS11.5 on both my computers but when I installed Prox2 on both, dropped frames started showing up. Ive been using UVS 11.5 a long time with very very few dropped frames. Now its about 1/2 the time I capture. Its strange its showing up on both. (AVI's from a VX2100) My old computers listed and my new one is a HP pavilion Elite m9340f PC. Intel core 2 quad Q6700 nothing changed from factory. 2.66 ghz/64 bit/ 6 gb memory.
Theres probably no hope for me but what about my problem ?

This is interesting, because I noted another glitch that has to be attributed to VS Pro X2 being installed. It caused my VS11.5+ to fail on A-D pass-through, using my Digital 8 camcorder. I knew VS Pro would not work, so I fired up VS11.5+ and it failed, just like I had not ever installed the patch.

Some possibilities to check would be:

• Firewire cable going bad
• Capturing Type-2 instead of Type-1.

I suspect a failing firewire cable to be the most likely problem. If you have another firewire cable swap it to see if you still are getting dropped frames. Then also if you have not changed the default DV capture option, which is set to Type-2, try changing it to Type-1. For some reason VS has always seemed to handle capturing/transferring Type-1 better...

To pin it down to VS or not, try using the free utility called WinDV. It is a very small lightweight application made for the single purpose of capturing DV. It is known for not dropping frames.

My firewire is so old its yellow but I think its still working. I'll replace it just for the fact that its ugly. LOL
Ive always captured type 1 and I downloaded WinDV last night when I saw it in another post. Haven't tried it yet but as soon as I get back from the woods I'll have some footage.
