To keep you informed on how I'm progressing with regard to my problem I've been on to Technical Support and have now received the following response:-

"I’m still chasing, but have had no response as of yet, just to let you know, I have had numerous reports of similar problems with the upgrade process, and am still trying to get some word from Ulead."

So it looks as though this is a known problem. If I get the solution I'll post it on the forum.

Was the version you downloaded was a trial version and had activated it by purchasing the activation code? If that is the case, then you would have to contact Ulead in order to get a new download link. Make sure that you have your purchase information available, since they will be asking for it.

Video Studio 8 was originally downloaded as a Demo version, and after trying it and liking it I purchased the full version. This was registered and still works perfectly. Video Studio 9 I purchased as an upgrade. This refuses to accept that I have any Ulead product on my computer.

I have received notification from Technical Support this is a common problem, but they cannot get Ulead in Taiwan to tell them how to fix it. In fact they cannot get them to respond to their Emails.

For some reason, the upgrades will not work on these versions of Ulead that start out as a trial version. To fix this issue, you would actually have to contact Ulead to get a new download link once they confirm purchase information. The link should be a full version, thus fixing your problem.

Thanks for the advice, I have now been given a full version of Visual Studio 9 by the support team, so hopefully my problems are over.
