Slide Show and Chapter point

If I want to create a number of slide shows on one DVD, each consisting of a series of photos, with 'create menu' UNTICKED, how can I make each slide show a seperate chapter, ie pressing next on the remote jumps to pic 1 in the next slide show?

Just uncheck "Create Menu" and make the disk.

Each separate slideshow created on the timeline will be a separate
mpg2 file on the dvd. Pressing next will jump to the beginning of the
next mpg2 file which will be the first picture.

If you want to make a slideshow and cycle through the pictures by
hitting next or go back by hitting previous then create
a DPOF file structure on a disk. Using a dvd player that plays jpeg files
will show the slideshow.

For some reason this doesn't work for me. From within movie factory, I click add slideshow, navigate to the group of pics I want, add them, add text, and click ok, then repeat this for another group of pics until I reach disk capacity.
In the preview window it works, exactly like I want, clicking the next button starts playing the next group of pictures. I then create a dvd in a folder on the HDD and navigate to there with the dvd player. clicking next on the dvd control panel takes me to the next picture, not the first picture in the next slideshow. Burning a disk from here and playing on my settop player, and the next button on the remote does nothing.

any suggestions??

You are using the wrong product for your type of DVD. DVD Pictureshow 3 can do this sort of thing well & you can configure it to play all the clips continually with different chapters on different albums. And it's so much cheaper than MF4.
