X2 Pro overlay scene transitions are shown on whole video

Post by kw »

I was playing around with the scene transitions on the overlay track and when previewing the file it shows the scene transition over the rest of the video instead of just the overlay track (I had it as a small video pip on hte lower right side). I haven't tried rendering the project to know if it shows up in the editied file.

Hi kw

There have been some problems with X2 that have been cured by updating DirectX.
Read the sticky at the top of this forum.

Don¡¦t have X2 ( I¡¦m gonna have to get the software sometime)
I am sure someone will try this on X2

I noticed the same thing. As an example I placed a background on the video track and some images on the overlay track (PIP). I used the "turn page" transition between the images on the overlay track. I was expecting only the overlay images to peel, but the entire video is affected.

That does happen with those type of transitions. I rarely will use them, so have not noticed until now. I guess they are made for the main video track only... :? :(

Of course the work around for that would be to create a seperate video file to use later in the overlay track.

I remember seeing a tutorial where the overlay transition effect automatically applied a crossfade but when I tried it it was another scene transition. Perhaps only a select few will work properly. Another bug it seems and I've only had the sw a couple of days! I probably need to set the default scene transition selection to crossfade.

In the Preferences set the default to cross-fade, however you do not need to have the box checked to always apply it. That way when you overlap the clips VS will use the crossfade..

And of course, the "wonderful" Users Manual says nothing about this or how to even overlap the overlay video files to get the transition to show up on the Overlay Track.
