Ok,

where to start, i recently had to re-install wxp home again.

Now when i open the new Corel Video studio 12 x2 when i drag a xvid clip into the video line then click on multi trim the thing just stops pause's for a few seconds and tells me there been an error and crashes.

The error that comes up is:

Error Signature

AppName: vstudio.dat

AppVer 10.0.0.0

ModName: xvid.dll

ModVer: 0.0.0.0

Offset: 00047d0f

Which means nothing to me so thought i would see if any here can help or point me in the right direction??

I have tried my older 10 & 11 plus versions and have the same result when trying to edit clips or play clips or share them.

Xvid, DivX, Mpeg-4 - they are all very compressed file types that were meant for distribution and viewing, not editing. You could try converting the file to something more suitable for editing (AVI or MPEG-2). There are many programs to do this, including the free Super.

There's your problem! Xvid and other highly-compressed formats are often "difficult" to edit or convert.

You may need to convert the file to another (less compressed) format with a 3rd-party program. Or, can you re-capture to a different format? What are you doing with the final video? Do you need Xvid? Are you making a DVD?

Or, you may need to look for a special-purpose Xvid editing program, or a different video editor that simply works better with Xvid.... Video Studio doesn't even claim to work with Xvid! And, some of files it does support can sometimes give you trouble.

However they all worked fine before the re-install with xvid clips

Damm!!! computers do my head in..lol

It might sound silly, but did you reinstall the xvid codec when you reformatted your computer? Video Studio does not install it, and requires the codec to be installed separately so that it can take advantage of it...
