HOw to apply texture to a sphere

Post by Petal »

I am pretty new to Cool 3D and I think I might be a little thick. Would appreciate it if someone could help me out. What I am trying to do is have an exploding golf ball. I have applied a texture I created to a sphere to make it look like a golf ball, but the texture looks OK until I rotate the ball and then the texture appears warped and uneven. I have fiddled for ages with the texture sizing, postition etc... but am clearly missing the point. Would love an exploding golf ball in my video.

Wolfy,Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I have been away and now I can't log on as Petal, so my new name is Dahl. Anyway, Thanks for the golf ball texture. It is a bit fiddly but much better than what I had. Not perfect though. I will keep working at it.Thanks again for that.

Using Wolfy's image works. When applying image texture to sphere, you need to use the following settings.
Wrap: Mode>Spherical Normal> Y-
Mapping: Position Texture X=0, Y=0, Z=0 Rotate Texture: X=0, Y=0, Z=180 Resize Texture: X=100, Y=100.
Under Project tab change Curve Quality setting to Optimal. That's it.

Thank you very much for that-both of you. It was so simple. Sorry I am so thick, wish I had paid more attention in school. I will get the hang of it. I'm off to finish off my latest golf video with bouncing and exploding ball.
