Upgrade X2 to X2 Pro indicated I must Uninstall X2 first?

I am feeling snakebit with X2, first I find that I have standard when the box indicated Pro but since I am trying to complete a project with X2 and need more tracks I purchased the upgrade to Pro (download) and tried to run it.

It stops and says I must uninstall the existing version of X2 first??? Can this be right? Before I uninstall the only VS :?: version on this computer I would like to know if the upgrade will install and work without the original version? Seems to make little sense to me.

I tried to e-mail tech support but their system indicated there was a failure while trying to register a product!

Thanks in advance for any insight anyone might have into to this.

The explanation is likely to be the fact that though called an upgrade, in my experience all upgrades are in fact the full version of the program. In other words, it does not just add more files, or slightly different ones, to those already there, but installs a whole new set. And since you are in effect replacing the vanilla version with the Pro version, you get the whole new box and dice.

Make sure you back up any project files etc, however.

Thanks Ken, I uninstalled the standard and then went forward with the Pro upgrade. Finally have Pro working!

Insteresting side note, you cannot upgrade using the standard 12 (x2) version S/N, it only allows S/N prior to 12 to be used! Thankfully I had my old V10 disc and S/N which worked like a champ. This seems like an oversight as you would think that there will be others with only X2 standard that will not be able to upgrade to Pro.
