All these forum related problems started when Corel switched the forum to a different server, so you would think they would be temporary. But since this switch happened weeks ago and not a whole lot has gotten better, it seems that Corel has dropped another ball.

I'm getting rather tired of Corel releasing products that have obvious problems that they don't release patches for, discontinuing perfectly good products for no apparent reason - basically wrecking a great product line.

Time to start looking at alternatives.

And it is even more frustrating for Steve Jones (sjj1805), Vidoman and myself, as Site Admin, as we have been assigned few if any powers that can correct the current faults -- which are many more than just the non-receipt of notifications of replies...

We, through Steve, have notified Corel of the faults several times, and then prompted for action more than once a week in the five weeks or so since the Board was 'moved' to its new Corel address. But nothing seems to happen. Even mentioning to them more than once the incredibly bad impression it gives of a major software company that can't even seem to control its own web board, seems to have no effect...

Hi
Hopefully Kenneth it is a temp problem, but reading between the lines, don¡¦t hold your breath.
Its frustrating for all not only site admin, following a post is essential.
Hopefully Jeffs comment (Time to start looking at alternatives.) will be irrelevant.

I have my own problems, new PC upgraded to Vista, working with VS10. The pc and rendering just flies, But VS crashes now and again, very annoying, never had problems with XP.
Should I be having the problem with vista?
I digress
May be Jeff is correct!

In addition to the lack of e-mail notifications, I was having to sign-in every time I wanted to post, even though I check-marked the box to keep me signed in. Today I noticed something at the top of the screen that says "Please use our New Address". I had not noticed that before and have been using the old address.

I switched to the new address and now I can reply without signing in everytime.

I don't know whether anyone else has been having the sign-in problem, but if so and you haven't switched to the new address, that may fix it for you.

EDIT - UPDATE: I spoke too soon. I just tried to post a new message and had to sign in to do it. I was able to do a "reply" earlier without signing in and thought the problem had been fixed. Guess not.

Hi dalemccl

Thanks for the info, I¡¦ll give it a try, just bookmarked the new link.
First log-in seemed to take a long time. Just see how it goes.
Only time will tell if there is any improvements

I have been using the new address since the changeover was made 5 weeks ago, and get ALL the problems people are having. So I am afraid the new address makes no difference...

(And Trevor, at the risk of trying to teach Granny to suck eggs, I assume you have applied the Vista patch to your VS10 now that it is running under Vista...)

Hi Ken
Thanks for the thoughts, Yes I installed the patch.
I have set VS compatibility mode to include XP, things seem to have improved.
If I continue to have problems I will be sending a new post.

All of the issues raised here have been passed to Corel numerous times complete with screen shots where possible. Only today I received an email from a Corel Employee asking if the problems had been fixed yet
 :?

The reason why I have tried to emphasise using the new address is aimed mainly at new members attempting to join. There is a problem which only seems to affect Internet Explorer - it does not affect other browsers such as FireFox or Konquerer. If you try and join from Internet Explorer and use the old Web Address you don't get the confirmation code box.

Frustratingly, I rely heavily upon the link at the top right of the Web Board
View posts since last visit

When I logged in a few minutes ago I noticed about 60 posts since last visit. When I tried to reply to this thread I was forced to log in again.
Then when I again checked View posts since last visit it was now only showing 2, one of which was this reply!

Regarding new user registrations I have set up a mail merge system using an excel spreadsheet and Microsoft Word to try and notify new members that their membership has been approved and also their log in details. Not at all efficient and I am sure that many new users have slipped the net.

So you can see how frustrating it is for our "Team" to try and offer any constructive help at the moment. All I can ask is that our members be patient whilst I continue to nag Corel into some action.
