Now YouTube Can accept HD and Widescreen format can we have a quick how to on creating suitable templates?

And setting project settings that would work with this format.

YouTube NEW 640 x 360 and 1280 x 720 Templates

I would assume the file sizes are going to be a little larger?

Anyone done a comparison?

This was done with a modified 1280x720 WMV 2 Pass template I made up
and have been using for a while.

I don't recommend using HD for YouTube. I always have to switch to Normal because of the high downloading bandwidth. Otherwise it stops every few seconds while it fills the buffers again and this is aggravating. The viewing image size is the same and the difference in viewed resolution is small, so, if you want viewers to watch your piece to the end, keep it small.

Hmmm even with a 1.5mb internet access I think it is too slow to view the 1280 x 720 video without viewing it twice!!

Maybe the 640 x 360 version maybe viewable?

I have a slightly faster ISP at 3 meg, which allows me to view some of the higher quality without the constant buffering. The only noticeable difference is with videos that started out at very low quality. If you upload a very low resolution clip, of course the recoding to FLV by YouTube is going to make it worse.

On page 2 of the video tutorials section of this forum for videostudio there is a section on youtube. I recently posted something about updating the current content fo x2 but there seems to be a lack of definitive info there. Now with this latest change to youtube I am sure the videostudio community would like a one stop tutorial on "These are the exact steps to follow to create the best quality youtube video in x2" because upload to youtube option in share video aint it.

Once the video starts I simply hit pause and do something else. When I come back the video is ready to play all the way thru with no buffering.

And there was me thinking Ireland was way behind the likes of the USA with regards to internet speeds. I too would simply press the pause button and come back to the video after a minute or two. Thankfully, internet download speeds of 20 megs means I rarely have to do that. The HD does look WAYYYYYY better to me anyway.

Ytube recommends that you submit your file as a MPEG-4 at 1280 x 720
I tried to find that in the MPEG-4 create file, but no such size is available. I need to submit with MPEG-4 to get it under 1 gig (max) all other formats produce a file over 1 gig. I am using Video Studio Pro X2. There are heaps of info on how to do this in Sony Vagas.

If anyone has any good templates that they have created for sharing video on Youtube, VEOH, Google video or any other similar hosting service, then it is very simple to share them with the rest of us.

I know the topic is about HD templates, but I am still using SD. With that said, the last few times I have uploaded to YouTube I have just uploaded my rendered, 720 x 480 MPEG-2 file and I let them convert it, and I think they look pretty good if you watch the High Quality version. Couldn't that be done with the HD clips.

I am using a 1280x720 WMV HD template I made up that uses a modified
Ulead - WMV HD 720p NTSC Standard Quality Profile that has been copied
and renamed and the profile parameters are changed to my numbers.

With all of that said, What would be a good way for me to share that
template since no one will have the modified profile to use it????

I agree that SD clips watched in YouTube's HD are good and watchable without buffering problems. It is the HD clip, watched in HD, that offers nothing better and inevitably causes buffering problems. Watched in "normal", it is watchable, with lower quality than SD watched in HD.

Whenever buffering problems start, I simply don't watch the clip. I'm probably not alone, so those who try to upload HD are probably shooting themselves in the foot.
