Would appreciate your help with this. I have several photos (images) in my library that are not 4x3 aspect. When I put them on my timeline, VS automatically puts them over a black background. How do I (a) change the black background to a color, and (b) add texture to the color? Many thanks.

I am not sure that you can change the texture of the background. But to change the colour go to File > Preferences > General, and down towards the bottom of the box is 'Background color' which has the default black box beside it. Click on the latter to choose a new colour.

You would have to use an image editing capable programme like Paint Shop Pro by Coral to change image backgrounds.

Not necessarily. You could simply put an image or video clip of the texture in the main video track, and have your photos in the overlay track.

I use Digital Juice. They have a product called a Jump Back, which is an animated background (of course you can "un-animate" it too). Right now they are having massive sales as they retire some products. Products that normally sell for $50+ are going for as little as $5!

The Jumpbacks look interesting -- thanks for pointing them out. Can they be used as a background for an opening title in VS?

I only found two volumes on sale. Those two were on sale for today only (Thursday), but maybe they are featuring different ones on different days? Or maybe they only have two left in stock.

I didn't see any of the high-definition ones on sale though.

Of course. Jump Backs are merely video clips. Anything you can do with a clip from your camera you can do with a clip from Digital Juice.

Yes, they only have a few products on sale at any given time, but they do change them frequently. I assume they are moving the SD volumes to make room for more HD.

I avoid the "blank bit around the edges" problem entirely by using the pan-and-zoom feature to crop static images...

Frames, or masks, typically have some transparency to them, so you simply put them in an overlay track and enable the transparency.
