Although I respect other people's inputs, I would appreciate Mr. Jones' (sjj1805) response to this as I have followed his suggestions in the past with great success.
I recently re-installed VS10+ after my son, who works for Microsoft, rebuilt our computer. After installing the service pack 1 and the HD DVD burning pack updates, I created a project of a montage of film clips and stills like I have done before on 10 other projects.
For the burn stage, I followed the same directions that I used before from Mr Jones: New project>Share>Create disc>add video>click on cogwheel to set properties>change MPEG settings>customize>general tab shows Encoder driver = Ulead MPEG Now Encoder, frame type =lower field first, frame size = standard 720 x 480, and aspect ratio = 16:9>compression tab shows quality = 100%, all boxes unchecked and video data rate = variable, 8000 kbps, audio format = Dolby Digital audio, audio type = 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR), and audio rate = 384>OK. After I do some editing, I do a 4x burn and the result is in a 4:3 format.
Thank you
Burns DVD in 4:3 when project is in 16:9

Hmm this is an interesting one.
I notice you have VideoStudio 10+ and Windows Media Center so have checked the
System Requirements
I checked your work flow and it appears correct.
I know this sounds daft - but you would be surprised how often we overlook the obvious. You have selected a DVD format and not a VCD format haven't you?

Please also confirm you're version number is reading:

Failing all that I think we need to look at what you did before you went to the Share -> Create disc stage. We would need to examine the format of the video(s) you are importing into the authoring stage.

Try ticking the box "Do not convert compliant MPEG files"For the burn stage, I followed the same directions that I used before from Mr Jones: New project>Share>Create disc>add video>click on cogwheel to set properties>change MPEG settings>customize>general tab shows Encoder driver = Ulead MPEG Now Encoder, frame type =lower field first, frame size = standard 720 x 480, and aspect ratio = 16:9>compression tab shows quality = 100%, all boxes unchecked and video data rate = variable, 8000 kbps, audio format = Dolby Digital audio, audio type = 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR), and audio rate = 384>OK. It's so comforting to be talking to my "mentor" so thank you for your time. I, too am blown away by this because it worked so well in the past and I have meticulously followed your sugeestions from http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27 (at that time). In answer to your questions:
I have selected DVD 4.7G
I have checked "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" (the "all boxes unchecked" refers to any boxes under the compression tab)
It is reading my version number
The project consists of JPEGS interspersed among different video clips like I have done so many times before. The properties of the clips are: file format = Microsoft AVI files - OpenDML, frame rate = 29.970 frames/sec, data rate = 3512.11 kbps, video compression = DV Encoder - type 1, video attributes = 24 bits, 720 x 480, 16:9, audio compression = DV audio - NTSC, audio attributes = 48.000 kHz, 16 bit, Stereo.

Have you by any chance installed Microsoft XP Service Pack 3 recently?
If you read this post you will see it caused me problems and since then a small number of other users have reported issues following SP3.
Anyone got a problem with XP SP3 and MSP8 ?

As a matter of fact, when my son rebuilt the computer in October, SP3 was installed. Is there a workaround without going through partitions, etc? I'm not that tech savvy nor am I using Ulead that much. How about setting a restore point, removing SP3, burn the DVD, and go back to the restore point?
I have also had problems getting Ulead to stay open. It will suddenly quit without any warning and it takes about 3 attempts before it stays open. Could SP3 be the problem here also?
Will an upgrade to VS10+ work with SP3?
