Using Smart Proxy

Post by Gisela Richter »

This topic has been mentioned before, but I'm not the only one to have found the text insufficently explicit. It never works for me. I "enable S.P." specifying a SP folder, and then capture my HDV. But the SP folder remains empty. Low resolution SP files are never created.
Can someone please explain how to do it?

The proxy files will be created when you insert the clips into the timeline.

VS is SLOW at creating proxy files, so keep an eye on cpu usage in Task Manager. My Core Duo shows 50% usage when the proxy files are being generated.

You'll know when they've been made by the small "filmstrip" icon that appears on each clip in your library.

You might also search your hard drives for *proxy*.avi in case they're in a different folder to the one you expect them to be in.

You can also right-click on a clip thumbnail in your library and select "Create Smart Proxy File..." from the drop down menu that appears.
