I just purchased WinDVD plus Blu-ray last week. Some things I noticed that took me searching in the boards. Hopefully this will help other Newbies like me.
-If you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in WinDVD 9, then you can't enable the settings in the Video drop-down menu (Color, Enhancement, All2HD, etc.).
-Many of the Audio/Video options (Technology/Dolby..etc, ALL2HD) are only available to be changed while playing a DVD. Otherwise they are grayed out or not even listed.
-If you have a Dual Monitor system, you can't change some of the Video settings like enabling All2HD. In order to use this, you have to disable one monitor (I hope they fix this!).
-Being able to enable or disable hardware acceleration in Setup->Audio/Video Setup, only works if you play a DVD then pause or stop playing first. If you just open WinDVD, this option can't be changed. I believe this changed with the latest WinDVD patch, as I could change it before the patch.
-There is a patch for WinDVD 9. If you click "Product Updates" in the product, it won't find it. You have to go to the Corel web-site to find it or these forums.

Aside from that everything you said is correct.
Re: New to WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray - Things I found out
That really sucks because you can't upconvert standard DVD to HD without disabling Hardware Acceleration. Which means that you have to manually enable and disable Hardware Acceleration while switching between Blu-ray and standard DVD.mogulman wrote: -If you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in WinDVD 9, then you can't enable the settings in the Video drop-down menu (Color, Enhancement, All2HD, etc.).

Sorry for the triple post. The site said that my post didn't go through so I reposted 3 times.mogulman wrote: -If you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in WinDVD 9, then you can't enable the settings in the Video drop-down menu (Color, Enhancement, All2HD, etc.).
Plus I cannot play some titles because of new encryption on new discs I presume.
Slow updates, poor support....
Another victim of a hopeless attempt to stop or slow a pirates ability to cop these movies. I hate to tell ya Sony, Disney, MGM, Paramount, etc. If I were to pirate a movie, I would simply steal the DVD format... There are hundreds of tools available to copy such discs.
Too bad legal retail software cannot play some BluRay titles because of this whole mess. I guess I am once again screwed for being an early adapter and trying to stay on the cutting edge of home theater technology.
Sounds similar to the dual layer DVD issue that ended up being an $800 waste of money for my first (non dual layer compliant) dvd player.

Not true because no matter what you set HW acceleration is enabled automatically whenever you play Blu-ray disc.hendra wrote:That really sucks because you can't upconvert standard DVD to HD without disabling Hardware Acceleration.
