When you export your image from Coreldraw are you saving Text as Text, or Curves? I find that using Curves works to import them into Cool 3D PS.

To check this I quickly created an image/object using Coreldraw X4, and exported it to EMF, and WMF, both times choosing Curves, not text. I managed to import both into Cool 3D PS.

Adobe Illustrator (AI) files need to be saved as version 9 or later to be a closed path. Earlier versions of AI would not save them as a closed path.

To create a background like the example, you would start by creating the objects. Look at the shapes used in the example. Better yet open it and tear it apart to see how it's created. Sorry I can't be of more help, as I just modify the example to use.

Edited...
Well I went back and checked saving text as text, using both WMF, EMF, and had no problems importing them. So at this point you might check that your image in Coreldraw does not have any open paths...

Example
Car Created with CorelDraw

Quick car shape created with CorelDraw X4, exported as WMF or EMF, then imported into Cool3D PS.
