Transition Limitations VS X2

Post by johanns »

Hi
I have VS X2 (Huge improvement on 11.5) and loaded Burger's transitions as well as Adorage Transitions. Both working fine. Adorage not working in the overlay tracts yet. I have in addition downloaded New Blue FX transition packs. All 4 of them. I have installed the extra transitions as specified on this site.
Now the problem
If I select the last grouped transition of New Blue it jumps to the txt menu on VS X2 but not on VS 11.5 on the same PC
But wait it gets better.
If I only install the New Blue FX packs it works fine. But when I then add the Burger one and the Adorange packs after the New Blue FX instalation the Last to installed jumps to the Text menu. VS 11.5 does not have this problem.

It seems that VS X2 can not handle more 20 grouped transitions. (Ie My Favourites, Album, Clock, F/X... etc). Some sort of a limit?

Was this picked up by any one else? How can I fix this or must I wait for the patch for VS X2
Thanks

But do the transitions work?

It won't get into any patch unless Corel knows about it, and you are the first I have heard to have this problem.

Yes If I added it in 11.5 and open the file in X2 it works but I can not change it. Can not view the selection of transitions. The moment I select it it goes to the Text menu. Note that in 11.5 I can use all of them. All 22 groups. But only 20 in VS X2, and that is the first 20 transition groups I install.

Hi
This is the feedback from Corel Support

Since there is no guarantee that third party add-ons will not cause problems in the program's functionality, it is also possible that such modifications have limits as to how they can interact with the program.

Regarding a patch, I don't think it is feasible for a company to adapt to third party products' compatibility but rather it should be the other way around as the third party should update itself to conform to the main program.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.

Kind regards,

I think he is missing the point The transitions still work fine. I can just not see them when I select it from the menu when you add more than 20 groups.

15 min after labouring the point explaining that they broke something with the upgraded and that it worked on VS 11.5.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I will make some simulations and I will get back with you when I get some news or a possible workaround. I will also forward this finding to my supervisor once I have enough information on the whole incident.

transition limitations

Post by Ilene »

wow - just saw this - and I have 2 posts on the same topic.

The same experience... can add more transtion packages to VS11+ but cannot exceed 20 in VS X2. I called Ulead/Corel support this morning and they too tryed to put it off into new blue's hands.... I agree - they broke somehting that worked just fine in prior versions. what a pity.

see my links

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=34676

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=36027

also added the request for more than 20 transition effects packages to the Wish list for future versions - see my post page 9.

My work around I think will be to uninstall Burgers as it was free and I can always get it back... and I think the new blue fx will be very useful and fun to use.

any other suggestions?

Hi Ilene

In short wait for the patch. But if you have time you can do the following, but it is a slep.... :(

I successfully used two different profiles for uvs12.
In order to do this u will need to install uvs12 on two PC's.
1) On the one PC, I installed all the new blue transitions. On the other one the Adorage, Burger, Canopus FX and Hollywood gold transitions
2) Make a copy of the profile under (Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0) from both PC¡¦s
3) Now create two directories called (New Blue and Other Tran)
4) Copy each profile under the appropriate directory.
5) Now on the PC that you will work say PC2 install the rest of the transitions.
6) Decide now before you start vs12 the set of transitions you would like to use.
7) Copy that profile into the (Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0) directory.
8) Remember when you add stuff to the menu to do it twice now. IE per profile. (This is the ¡§slep¡¨ part.)
9) When you render the final product it will pic up all the transitions you have added to the time line. Profile is only used to add the transitions to the timeline.

I use to know the exact files but stop doing it 4 months ago due to the "slep" of maintaining 2 different menu profiles for vs12. Now I am using Adorage, Burger, Canopus FX and Hollywood gold while waiting for the patch.

wow that does sound like a nuisance. ANy idea wat the timing of a patch will be?

I think it is easier to use the new blue fx in another version of VS... when I need the effect - I go to that version, render out a clip and put it in the project I'm working on. Sometimes I have to do it a few times to get it right ( unless I load an audio track in too) but it's another way to do a work around.

keep me posted if you hear anything about a patch.

I'm thinking of buying pixelan too... but will hold off.

thanks.

There is a flaw to all of this. When you add new transitions to the VFX folder - VideoStudio detects the new transitions and recreates the file HerEff.dat which is the library containing your transitions.

Since you have installed VideoStudio on two different computers the easy answer is to keep them both separate - one set of transitions on one computer, the other set on another. To work on the same project using either computer (i.e. interchangeable) then you need to retain the same directory structure on both and copy files from one computer to the other - better still to keep the project and associated files on an external hard drive that you can then plug into either machine.
