Hi!
What is wrong when every time I tried capture VHS PAL video with EasyCap USB 2.0 video adapter with audio and Ulead VideoStudio 10 SE the program hangs?
When I have selected capture video a small window with title CHANGE FIELD ORDER appears after about 10 seconds and the program hangs immediately after that. All tabs in window are gray already before that, so I can¡¬t select anything (e.g. options).
After that I had to turn off the computer which hangs, too.
Processor: Intel P4C (Willamette) Celeron 1.7 GHz 128 MB
RAM 512 MBDDR
Windows XP SP2, SP3
34 GT free space, Samsung 7200 rpm
Asus C-Media AC¡¬97 audio device
Intel 82845G/GL graphics controller 128MB DDR
EasyCap USB 2.0 video adapter is the only device in USB 2, and in the Device Manager Syntek STKI 150 is OK
thanks,
Antti

Does the EasyCap come with separate capture software, other than VS? If so, capture with that then import the clips into VS for editing.
If not you could try capturing with Windows Movie Maker (choose DV-AVI as the format), then import into VS.
Does VS work ok otherwise?

videocapturing in Ulead VideoStudio 10 SE doesn' work... EasyCap USB...
Like Black Lab said, When it comes to analog capture, you're almost always better off using the software that came with your capture device.
...The software, drivers, and hardware don't appear to be standardized. Unlike drivers for more-common computer paripherals which are standardized... Microsoft sets the standards. So, as long as the application writer follows the standards, and the hardware manufacturer follows the standards when they write the driver, everything works together. For example, any Windows printer will work with any Windows word processor, etc.

Hi
This won¡¦t help you one bit, just my experience, I recently bought the EasyCap USB 2.0 video adapter with audio.
Cheep on e-bay and shipped from the far east.
I was hoping to make my VHS capture a little easier and also run a few Easycap tests.
The little usb device comes with a usb driver and Video Studio 10, not the full version you understand, but enough to use the capture.
Mostly the device froze the pc/program in a very similar way as you experienced.
Its not a software problem but the device itself.
I think I managed to capture to raw Avi, but at 65Gb per hour that¡¦s not an option.
I soon came to the conclusion that it was neither worth the effort or the money.
At the time I was running XP, I have since changed to Vista, intending to try again, I cannot even install the usb driver for Easycap, so now its definitely a no no.
If I had purchased locally then I would return the item and demand a refund. Then spend a little more on something that works.
Mines up for grabs if any-ones interested.

But, did it also come with some other software too? What do the instructions say?ajakarit wrote:VS came with this easycap.
Sometimes Video Studio is included in the package just for video editing & making DVDs. Or, maybe sometimes the special SE version is tweaked to work with the hardware. (Usually the "free" SE version is just a more limited "teaser" version.)
Analog video capture is tricky, and these cheap capture devices can be flaky.

I bought the plextor capture device a couple of years ago and it came packaged with Ulead vs version 8. It never did capture anything, but it did lockup my windows amd single core with windows 2000 or xp. When I updated to version 10 I tried and it locked it up too. Just this morning I decided to try my brand new corel x2 on my new dual core with 2 gigs of ram. It recognized my capture device and when I pressed the capture video button the box came up saying what ever yours said and then it locked up the whole computer!! So we can see that at least it is consistent through the versions and it makes no difference what computer you use. I have always done all my capturing with some free program that someone wrote for plextor called gocap. You could search for it on plextors site and see if it would recognize your device. Maybe maybe not. It is free. Doug
No, this was the only software."But, did it also come with some other software too? What do the instructions say?"
I think that I¡¬ve done everything as the instructions say. I have disabled all antivirus softwares before installation of The EasyCap and VS.
Thanks, I¡¬ll try the same."I have always done all my capturing with some free program that someone wrote for plextor called gocap. You could search for it on plextors site and see if it would recognize your device. Maybe maybe not. It is free. Doug"
