VS 11.5+ and H.264

I've been happily using 11.5+ to edit HDV (and still use 10+ on my work laptop). I'm about to get a new Canon 5D Mk2, which takes 1080p H.264 mpeg-4 movies. Does 11.5+ support that format? Anybody have any experience working with it? I think I am in for a computer upgrade - but I have no desire to buy Vegas or Premiere.
