I've had VideoStudio 11.5 since Corel offered it to us who had used MediaStudio 8.0 until they axed it. Now I have just tried the trial version of version 12. Boy am I glad I haven't bought it yet!
My problem is I have tried to create a usable AVCHD file from my AVCHD files from my Sony SR-11. I compiled the files on the timeline with transitions and then went to Share Files menu and created an AVCHD file. It created a file with an .mpg extension which I assume is an AVCHD file. However, when I click it to play it Realplayer attemps to play it and crashes. I then tried to play it in Windows Media player but it crashes. So, is the problem that Realplayer and/or Media player cannot play AVCHD files or is Videostudio the problem.

The software player you use has to be rated to play AVCHD. It is similar to Blu-Ray in this regard. As far as I am aware, WMP is not rated to play it. I don't know about RealPlayer as I refuse to have it on my computers. On my own set-up, both PowerDVD 8 and WinDVD 9 both play AVCHD. I have not tried Nero ShowTime, but the version with Nero 8 and 9 might do so since both suites can produce AVCHD of their own.
