Does anyone have a link to the Dolby plugin that was offfered for VS8? I've looked around the Ulead site and didn't find it anywhere. Currently, I'm not interested in upgrading to VS9.

Strangely it seem to have disappeared completely from the .com website but it is still shown as being available for download at the bottom of this page :-
http://www.ulead.co.uk/vs/extra.htm on the UK website.
EDIT - I'm going mad - when I first went to the site to check for availability it definitely said - BUY now - but whenever I go back there now it says "Available Soon" - thought it had always been available since V8 was launched ???????

Hi
I was a little disappointed in the AC 3 plug-in for VS 8
I assumed that you would be able to capture selecting the Digital Dolby Audio template.
But this is not the case, you have to capture to Mpeg audio or Lpcm audio.
Once captured you can create a video file and use the AC 3 plug-in.
To me this was a major drawback as capturing to Mpeg required a further render to use the plug-in.
I believe that using VS 9 you can capture to AC 3 Audio.
Certainly the Trial Version does. ( unfortunately you cannot play AC3 using the trial )
Its up to you, but with hindsight I would have saved the AC 3 money and use it towards the upgrade.
Saying that I do not know whether VS 9 is better than VS 8 (Bug Wise)

Thanks Trevor. I just want to make sure I understand. Are you saying that with the VS8 Dolby plugin if I wanted to capture video footage that has a Dolby sound track I VS would capture the footage with LPCM or MPEG audio? Then when I rendered the footage I would have to render the audio back to Dolby?
This seems very odd. What happens if the footage I was capturing was already MPEG2. If I used SmartRender so as not to re-render a DVD compliant file would the plugin just render the audio only?

No
What i am saying if you are capturing to Mpeg 2 you have several audio options, LPCM or Mpeg.
Using the AC 3 plug-in does not give you the additional AC 3 capture option.
So if i try to capture from my Cam-Corder or my TV tuner i cannot capture to AC 3 Audio as my camera or TV does not support AC 3.
But if i use VS 9 I have the option of capturing to AC3.
As far as i know if you are importing an Mpeg that contains AC 3 audio that would be ok.
Does that make sense?????????????????????
