Previewing Finished Video before Creating a Disc
I upgraded to VS12 from 11+ electronically. The program works well except that before I create my disc I cannot preview the finished result. I still have 11+ installed on my computer and preview stage is ok with this version of VS. I have asked for technical support and they advised me to resintall VS12 which I am loathe to do, as I have done this procedure in the past when I have upgraded electronically and in my experience if you solve one problem you create another - VS12 is working well apart from this problem. In the end on two occasions I have had to go out and buy the boxed version from my local retailer therefore paying twice. Has anyone else upgraded and found a problem like this with VS12? If so have you managed to fix it? (I have VS12 downloaded onto my laptop as well and the problem exists there also, so is not confined just to my PC.)

I am unable to say why preview works on one and not the other. But the preview problem is usually fixed by updating DirectX. I suggest you go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch dated November 2008 and can be found at http://tinyurl.com/6jj2lw
Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The number of your DirectX installation will not change, but the patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects faults in VS which appear linked to Windows updates. The menu preview, 'building preview graph' and other problems in the burning module seem to be amongst them.
Note that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computers. It would also explain why it is happening on two computers...

Thank you for your helpful advice. I have tried to download the DirectX November update, but get a message to the effect: "Set Up cannot download the file. Please retry later or check network connection." The network connection is correct, so do I have to have a little patience, or do you think there could be an underlying problem why I cannot download the file.

No worries now, I have extracted the files and installed DirextX and it has fixed the problem I had with the "preview mode before output". My sincere thanks to Ken Berry - I wish you were part of the Corel Technical Support Team - I have been all around the houses with this problem with them. Thanks again.
