When I burn a +RW hybrid disc it is not recognized by my player (Panasonic BD35). I tested wirh 2 media brands (Fuji and TDK), and my player is specified as being able to playback DVD+RW AVCHD discs. All other media formats (DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R) work flawlessly. The +RW discs do playback on my PC with PowerDVD8 and showup as 1920x1080 AVCHD video. Did somebody else get the same results (e.g. on PS3)?

I always test-burn my standard def and hybrid AVCHD DVDs on TDK +RW discs, and the PS3 recognises and plays them with no trouble. TDK just happen to be the brand I have for +RW. No special reason for buying that brand.

Thanks Ken. I did my testburns using VS11.5. I suppose this will make no difference.

I don't think so. I did my original hybrid discs using VS11.5+. Mind you, the PS3 is a very forgiving player, in the sense that it seems to play almost anything. It will also play video burned just as an archive on a non-video (i.e. archive) DVD, as long as it is in a folder labelled (upper case) VIDEO. Ditto if I put the video, in whatever format, on a USB stick or external hard drive (though both these have to formatted with FAT32 not NTFS which PS3 can't read).

I use Verbatim DVD+RW discs with Pro X2 for hybrid AVCHD discs. They play OK in my Panasonic BD30 Blu-ray player.
I wonder whether the writing speed could affect the playability. Might be worth trying to burn at the slowest speed, if you haven't already tried that. I burn mine at 2.4x.

Tried 2.4x but no results. What bitrate setting are you using. I use 18kb/s.

At the risk of repetition, ditto again!!

Both for burning speed, and bitrate...

I use a bit rate of 18 also.

I did some further testing...My BD 35 plays SD DVD on DVD+RW, but more interesting (and strange too) is that exactly the same m2ts footage, which results in "incompatble AVCHD disc" on my BD35 when on DVD+RW (created with VS12), plays perfectly when created and burned with Sony's PMB (Picture Motion Browser). Strange... The properties as can be verified by PowerDVD8 (PC playback) seem exactly the same in both cases.
