I have my pc set in portrait mode by default. I like it better. I just buught a 22" monitor so that i could watch google earth without having to change the mode to landscape each time i view it. Their minimum horizontal dimension is 1025 pixels & with my new monitor set to 1050X1680 it works fine. I would like to run vs11 the same way but it won't start. I get a "cannot initialize application" error msg. What are the horizontal requirements for vs11? Can i run it in portrait mode? I tried upping to the highest matrix: 1080X1920 but it didn't help.

Try the starting VS in Landscape mode and if it works OK you'll know your answer.

You have asked a very unique question of which I feel the final answer will come from experimenting and reporting back

I have dual Monitors including a 22" res set at 1680x1050.
In portrait mode my VS won't reformat but Powerdirector will.

It operates fine in landscape mode. As i said the highest horizontal res i have is 1080 & it will not start with that setting. I guess i cant operate in vertical with my present system. That's not a big problem but i'm curious to know the requirements for vertical operation are anyway.
