rubber banding

Im doing something wrong. Im trying to rubber band audio. I feel like I am following the instructions which I have properly. I see the greenline and red line. I click to get the upright arrow which places anchor points to move the band. I move the red band up or down or both in various places and nothing. I play it back and not a thing sounds even slightly different.

I see the modulations on the red line with my eyes. Ive tried different tracks. Ive split the audio out and tried it.

Nothing I do gets any results. When its this bad its probably easy to fix, I must be doing something fundamentally wrong

When you play the video back which has had its audio rubber banded, you need to play it in Project mode to be able to hear what has happened to the audio. Playing it in Clip mode will simply play the original.

I rarely use the rubber banding option, for one thing the height of the audio track is not that big and I prefer something a bit larger to work with.

Try exporting the entire audio track as a WAV file and then open it with an audio editor. VideoStudio X2 Ultimate includes a copy of WaveLab LE 6, alternatively you can download a FREE copy of Audacity.

Now make your changes and then save as a new WAV file which you then import back into VideoStudio. (Don't forget to either delete or mute the original audio track!)

...the ability to resize the layout in X2 helps add a bit more control now though - I tend to rubber band my audio as part of my final edit, and I shrink down the video window, thus expanding the timeline if I need finer control

I did do it externally and drop a combined wav file (video source and narration tracks) back into it. I used Nero Sound Trax. Its easier there and worth the extra steps. I found also that I needed to raise the overall volume on the entire audio track from the source video. Its easier to raise or lower the sound when there is more to the sound to begin with.
