PI12 and X3 cannot find Microtek Scanner

Post by UleadBear »

I have a USB Microtek Scanner (Scanmaker 3630) which both PI12 and X3 refuse to find and initiate even though it is recognised and in the drop down list of sources

When I select the source as Microtek Scanmodule I get the following error

When I select source I get the following error

Perhaps the most important thing to note here is that PI6 along with all my other software (Windows Scanner and Microsoft Office Document Scanner) all recognise and open ScanModule v6.1.

Could somebody please explain the difference between PI6 and PIX3 with regard to scanner recognition.

Thanks in advance

Just wondering if someone knows where I might find advice.

I don't know the solution...but I do admire the problem

I am not sure this is a solution but I would check the USB cable.

I had a Linkys wireless network adapter that would not work, it showed in the computer because I had installed the drivers. The problem I had was the USB cable, once I got a new one it works fine.

I am not sure if this might be your case, but I think it's worth the try.

good luck.

Whenever i get that error with a scanner I turn the scanner off for a minute or so and then turn it back on again.

The alternative cause is in the previous reply - a faulty cable.
