WANTED : VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate .pdf user guide !

Post by GRDVDjunkie »

I would appreciate it, if Corel would stop being secretive about the down-
load location of the PDF User guide that is included with VS Pro X2 Ultimate. It would be helpfull to get an insight into the program`s features
and functions. When one clicks on Documents (at Ulead`s site), you are
taken straight to Corel`s main page for the said product, NOT the page
from where you can download and study the .pdf.
Can anybody inform us, as users of VS 11.5, an alternative link to find
the .pdf BEFORE we decide to buy the new version ?
Thank you very much.

I am sure someone will be able to help you soon, though I can't! But I can only agree with you.

However, to compound your misery, I have to say that you won't be significantly enlightened by it when you get it. It is not greatly different (if at all?) from the X2 help files.

Thank you vidoman. You people at Corel just cannot believe how
...thrilled and delighted I am, finding out that an application belon-
ging to a complex category of software (as video editing most defi-
nitely, IS !), has a massive user guide of only 3.64 MB. Wow.
How enlightening, thourough and comprehensive can that be.

Its the same as almost any software manual. If you are lucky they mention what a check box or text box might do but they are always short on the WHY. Corel is no different to microsoft or IBM or Apple or anyone. It seems noone is capable of writing manuals that are intelligent and comprehensive.

You people at Corel ...
Please don't blame any of us here. We are NOT 'people at Corel'... We are ALL users, just like you, who volunteer our time to help on this Board. None of us work for Corel, Ulead or any associated company.

My dear Ken, I MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT BLAME YOU, or any other
Forum administrator / moderator ! You people have been very help-
full so far, not only to me but to many others struggling to accomplish
this or that task, or / and trying to figure a way out of a sticky pro-
blem. You guys managing the forum, are NOT responsible for any of
Corel`s weaknesses, shortcomings, shortsightedness, and apparent
lack of ambition to SERIOUSLY compete with Avid (Studio 12 Ultimate),
(Premiere Pro CS4 and Elements), Cyberlink (Power Director 7),
and many others. Take a real walk (or a virtual one through the Inter-
net) around most reputable, well known bookstores on the planet, and
try to spot any books about DVD MovieFactory, VideoStudio, Media
Studio Pro or any version of PhotoImpact. Believe me, there aren`t
any. Ulead (and now, Corel) are practically NON existent as software
builders, in people`s minds and their buying tendencies. Compare
Technical support, resources and content download between Adobe`s
website and Corel`s - they are worlds apart, in favor of Adobe. Don`t
misunderstand my attitude and rush to assume that I am an Adobe
...evangelist or that I am trying to inflict damage to Corel`s product
profile. The fact that there are whole regiments of users of, for exa-
mple, Photoshop and not PhotoImpact, of Premiere Pro and not Me-
dia Studio Pro, of After Effects and not Cool 3D Production Studio,
is due to the fact that Adobe (and writers on behalf of Adobe), are
actually EDUCATING people about the use of the applications, in ef-
fect turning them from mere one-time customers to descliples.

I thinks it is more marketing than educating. They know that if the name Adobe is in the face of the public then that is what the public will think of, and buy. The books most likely aren't written by Adobe, but by wise publishers who realize the Adobe name sells.

Look at Ron P's post above: he gives the link there. But I have to warn you not to expect that it will give you much more than the Help files... You would probably be better looking at the Tutorials section of this Web Board for more specific help...

EDIT: I stand corrected. I have just tried clicking on that link, only to find it 'unavailable'. I will ask Ron if he can provide another link...

No, FAQ link too well hidden. Ron's link to PDF works fine now after he reinstated it. Although the text and diagrams are identical, the pdf presentation as a 'document' is much easier to read than the HELP files.
