AVCHD file creation

Hi all,

Sorry for the stupid (probably) question, but I don't understand how to create an AVCHD file in X2.

What I do:
1) Edit my video
2) Click "Share"
3) Click "Create Video File"
3) Select "AVCHD -> PAL HD 1440"
5) "MPEG Optimizer" appears. (What's this?). Click "Accept".
6) Enter the output file name and click "OK".
7) Wait.

After the process I have a new MPEG2 file, not AVCHD (H.264)...

How do I create AVCHD files?

I just did the same thing -- the only difference being that I did not get the mpeg optimizer box (I don't have that ticked in File > Preferences > General). But when I selected File > Create Video File > AVCHD > HD 1440, as I was asked to give a name to the new file, the properties box appears down below the naming area, and shows clearly that the file I am making is high def AVCHD at 15 Mbps bitrate. And when it is prepared, the properties of the new file show the same. So I guess all I can suggest is that you cancel out of the optimizer or turn it off in File > Preferences, and see what happens this time.

You also did not say what the properties were of your original file... Was it AVCHD or HDV format?

Ken,

Thank you for the idea to not use mpeg optimizer, I though about it, but didn't believe so didn't try... Just because of your suggestion I unchecked it and...

Hmm, now it encodes my file into AVCHD (which is also clearly marked now).

So I consider it as a bug in X2 :)

Thank you very much!

P.S. The source was HDV from Canon V10.
