Can't import ripped ac3 into VSx2 pro

I used different programs to rip the ac3 track from an official DVD. The file plays well in numerous audio softwares but when I want to import it into VSx2 it will not play at all. Just a straight line appears, there is a loud pop and then silence, silence, silence.

Is there some kind of copyright issue here or any ideas what am I doing wrong?

It could be a copyright issue, or just the format used. Have you tried using Windows Media Player, and ripping it to WAV format? VS seems to handle WAV audio better..
