X2 and selecting audio source

Post by manicx »

Hi there

I was relieved to find that Videostudio X2 finally works perfectly in Vista for me (in the past I started this topic where I described my problem). This issue prevented me from using VS11 and stayed with VS10.

I downloaded the trial version of X2 and tried it. Perfect quality capture and I will use my upgrade option to buy it. However, I have an issue or two. I had these with VS11 but never bothered asking since I had other more important problems.

a) How can I select to use the LINE IN in my graphics card (onboard) to capture audio? No matter what, VS X2 always uses the input from MIC. I tried to look for an option but I didn't find any. In VS10, I can select the source. With X2, although LINE IN is working fine and I can hear the sound, I have to switch plugs on the back of my PC because the software ignores it and goes for the MIC. I don't like to switch sockets. Plus, the quality of the sound through MIC is horrible when I plug my VCR there. Horrible! (Edit: Actually ignore this. It was in Vista)...

b) I noticed, that there are some predefined templates about the capture. For example, I go to Options->Video Properties->Template and I select a template. Does X2 support a way to set up my capture properties manually and not using templates?

Thanks in advance.
