Capture is splitting up the video into 3 volumes

Post by rwalker66 »

I have been using various editions of DVD MF for 4 years. Currently I'm using DVD MF 6. Whenever I have captured video from my camcorder it always captures it as one file. I usually save as an AVI, but I bought a new HD camcorder, and the only choice in the pulldown menu for capture now is MPEG. Last night I was capturing for the first time with my new HD camcorder and for some reason it is breaking the 55 minute MPEG capture up into 3 volumes: dmf081112-001, dmf081112-001.-vol-02, and dmf081112-001.-vol-03. Why is it doing this? Each video in the clip list plays fine. However, when I highlight the 3 clips in the clip list and choose "join video" and try to play the joined video, it is all jerky and not smooth. Any idea what's going on here and how to fix it? Thank you.

What format does your new HD camcorder record, HDV or AVCHD? Also if you have not upgraded your PC, you will find that it will be a struggle for your PC...;) I would say if your camcorder uses the very, very compressed format of AVCHD, your PC is not even close to being able to handle it...;)

It is a Canon HV30 and records in HDV. My computer is Dell 531 dual-core 4000+ with 3 GB of memory.

You've obviously upgraded your PC, as your System Profile doesn't show this...;)

I'm sorry I don't know why DMF6 is splitting your capture up, as I still only use the old DV (avi), from my ancient Digital-8 camcorder...;) Hopefully someone that has experience with capturing HDV using DMF6 will jump in to help...

Oops. I forgot all about the profile showing computer information. I will update it.
