Windows Media Encoder has known bug in saving/making Profiels. Hotfix often does not work. This causes WME to not be available from inside Ulead doing custom save to WMV file. Microsoft says Expressions is fix and has Vista friendly version of WME. Am using Ulead Pro 12. Does anyone have info or experience with Expressions and if this will fix crashing problem of WME in Vista. Thanks.

Sorry, but which 'Expressions' are you talking about? The only two that I am aware of are Microsoft Expression Studio, which is aimed at professional developers and designers; and MS Expression Web, which is the latest version of FrontPage.

Expression Studio was what Microsoft directed me to. I need to fix the WME problem. I am not able to apply the hotfix and boards indicate even with hotfix applied WME 9 does not work in Vista. So new version of WME in Expression studio is answer?

I must be one of the lucky ones since WME version 9.00.00.2980 seems to work fine with my Vista Ultimate 32 bit OS. However, I have to add that I have only used it in a limited way to see what WMV high def files look like within VS...
Have you downloaded the trial version of Expression Encoder 2 available (at the bottom of the list) on
http://www.microsoft.com/expression/try-it/default.aspx ?
Encoder 2 not seen by Ulead

I uninstalled WME 9 and installed Encoder 2. Ulead does not 'see' any install of WME so there is no way to Copy and customize Profiles. Anybody have problems with WME 9?

So when you go, say, to Tools > Make Movie Template Manager, and choose WMV as the format you want to use, you don't even get reference to WME8 formats, as well as the WME 9, Neptune and WMV HD formats that I get listed in the drop down?
