Tutorial creating menus

Post by jmangondo »

Have UVS 11.5 Plus, running in Windows XP.

I now know how to use overlays (thanks to everyone who assisted and offered advice) but still cannot workout how to setup the menu.

Please assist on how to create a menu (working on a DVD with 4/5 chapters of images and videos). Each chapter must have "stop", "play", "rewind" and "forward" buttons.

Steve has provided a very extensive tutorial called From Camcorder to DVD with VideoStudio. If you have not yet gone through it, I think you would benefit in doing so.

You can have menu buttons for each chapter menu, however these are generally Play, Next, Previous, and Home buttons. A chapter is like placing a bookmark in a book. You can quickly jump to the page where the bookmark is placed. So when you have completed your DVD, and play it in a DVD player, pressing those buttons will allow you to jump to the next, and previous chapters, or return to a menu.

You are talking about "Navigation buttons" and these are added automatically by the program.

You will ALWAYS have a Play All Button.
Depending upon how many and which menu page you are on you will get one or more of the following
Next Page
Previous Page
Home Page.

For example - you create a Title with 15 Chapters. You select a Menu that has 5 Thumbnails. Therefore your "DVD" will have 3 pages.

Page 1 will have
Play All
Next Page

Page 2 will have
Play all
Next Page
Previous Page
Home Page

Page 3 will have
Play All
Previous Page
Home Page
