VS X2 Trial - Import from DVD - Date/Time

Post by kamdroid »

Have been importing from mini DVD created on a Sony DVD Camcorder.

In X2 the date and time show all the way through the capture.

This does not happen in V 10 (with same mini DVD's)

I can't track down a setting to turn this off.

X2 and V10 on different PC's both running XP.

Will post more details if required.

Under

File/Preferences/Genral Tab

There is a checkbox for importing datestamp and time code.

It's possible you may need to re-capture if the TC and Datestamp are "burn't in" in the Video.

Normally, the date and time only appear with DV format video, and you can turn that off and on in File > Preferences > General, as Clevo suggested. In any case, though it appears on screen, it is not actually embedded in the video, and will not appear in the final DVD. But as I say, this only appears to DV format.

However, it does *not* apply to mini DVD cameras which use mpeg-2 format. It appears there is a quirk with VS12 and IIRC 11 as well, that imports and embeds the date and time only with certain Sony DVD cameras. There is apparently an item on the camera's menu which allows you to turn it on or off, but not in Video Studio.

Thankyou for the help.

I do not have access at the moment to the Camcorder that created the mini dvd's so can't check the settings on it.

Fortunatley I do have VS10 so I can import using that without a problem.
