I downloaded an mp3 song via iTunes and can't insert it into my library due to the above error msg. Any help? All my other downloads seem to work just fine. Thx!

If you have other downloads that work it sounds like it might be corrupt. Try burning it to a disc (CD-RW) then rip it from the disc, creating a WAV file. Then try to insert the WAV file into your project.

Right! Uncompressed WAV is the most trouble-free audio format. In general, the more compressed audio & video formats cause the most trouble, and the least compressed formats cause the least trouble.

From the iTunes store? iTunes doesn't sell MP3s. They sell music in AAC & "Apple Lossless" formats. And, I think Apple still uses copy protection on some songs.

Apparently you can make a regular audio CD, even if the iTunes file is copy protected - Instructions here. (Regular audio CDs are not copy-protected.)

If the song is not copy protected, you can convert it directly to WAV. If you don't have a program to do that, here are some FREE conversion programs:
XRECODE (Audio converter)
SUPER (Audio & video converter)
Audacity (Audio editor - open in one format, save in another)

If all else fails, you can always make an analog* recording (and save in WAV format). This will work even if the file is copy protected. Here are instructions for doing that with Audacity.

That's right. Songs bought from iTunes are copy protected (AAC files) and can't be put in VideoStudio. Songs that I've ripped from my CD collection into iTunes are MP3s and work fine in VS.

If they are in the AAC format just burn and rip.

I believe iTunes can convert non-copy protected MP3s to WAV, but like I said iTunes MP3s haven't given me any problems in VS.
